Privacy Policy

Effective date: August 25, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how the campaign to re-elect Bert Perello to the Oxnard City Council, District 1 (“the Campaign,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses and protects information when you visit www.bert4oxnard.com (the “Site”).

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide directly. When you use the “Connect with Bert” contact form, we collect your first name, last name, email address and any message you choose to include. If you email us directly (for example, at bert@bert4oxnard.com), we receive your email address and the contents of your message.

Information collected automatically. The Site is hosted on the Wix platform and loads Wix's own site-analytics and monitoring tools, along with Sentry, an error-monitoring service that helps identify and fix technical issues. These tools may collect standard technical information such as your IP address, browser type, device type and pages viewed, typically through cookies and similar technologies.

Donation information. If you click “Donate Today,” you will be taken to a secure donation page hosted by eFundraising Connections, an independent third-party payment processor. On that page, the donation form itself asks for your name, mailing address, email address, phone number, employer and occupation, in addition to your payment method. We do not collect or store your credit card, bank account or other payment information — that information is entered directly on the payment processor's page and is handled solely by the payment processor under its own privacy and security practices.

2. How We Use Information

  • To respond to questions, comments, or requests submitted through the contact form or by email

  • To keep you informed about the campaign, including updates, events and requests for support

  • To process, acknowledge and record campaign contributions

  • To comply with California campaign finance and disclosure laws

  • To maintain, secure and improve the Site, including diagnosing technical problems

  • To analyze aggregate trends in Site usage

3. Public Campaign Finance Disclosure

California law requires committees like this one to publicly disclose certain information about contributions and expenditures to the California Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC) and/or the relevant local elections office. This disclosure typically includes a contributor's name, address, occupation and employer, along with the amount and date of the contribution, and becomes part of the public record. This is a legal requirement of political fundraising and is separate from, and not controlled by, this Privacy Policy.

4. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

The Site uses cookies and similar technologies provided by Wix.com, our website platform, to operate core site features, remember preferences (such as your selected language) and gather analytics about how visitors use the Site. You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings, though some features of the Site may not function properly if you do so. We do not currently respond to “Do Not Track” browser signals.

5. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with:

  • Service providers who help us operate the Site and the campaign, including Wix.com (website hosting and cookies), eFundraising Connections (donation processing) and Sentry (error monitoring)

  • Government agencies and elections officials, as required by campaign finance disclosure laws

  • Legal or regulatory authorities, where required by law, subpoena, or legal process

  • Campaign staff, volunteers and vendors working on behalf of the Campaign, solely to support campaign activities

6. Third-Party Links

The Site links to an external donation page hosted by eFundraising Connections and to linked documents such as endorsement PDFs. Blog posts on the Site also include buttons to share content via Facebook, X and LinkedIn. These third parties have their own privacy policies, and we encourage you to review them; we are not responsible for the privacy practices of sites we do not control.

7. Data Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, including those built into the Wix platform, to help protect information submitted through the Site. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Data Retention

We retain information collected through the Site for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy, including the duration of the campaign and any period required to comply with California campaign finance recordkeeping and disclosure obligations.

9. Children's Privacy

The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.

10. Your Choices

You may ask us to update or remove information you have submitted through the contact form, or to stop receiving communications from the Campaign, by emailing bert@bert4oxnard.com. Political committees such as this one are generally not subject to the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA); we honor requests described here as a matter of policy.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal or operational reasons. The “Effective date” above indicates when this policy was last revised. Continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.

12. Text and SMS Messaging Program

The Campaign may offer a mobile text messaging program (the “Program”) to share campaign updates, event reminders and donation requests with supporters who choose to opt in. This section applies only to the Program and does not affect or limit the rest of this Privacy Policy.

By providing your mobile number and opting in, you agree to receive recurring text messages from Re-Elect Bert Perello for Oxnard City Council, District 1, 2026. Message frequency varies, and message and data rates may apply. We use the information you provide only to send and respond to Program messages; we do not sell, rent, loan or trade your phone number or related information collected through the Program to any third party for profit. We may disclose Program information where necessary to comply with a law, regulation or valid legal request, or to protect our rights.

You can opt out of the Program at any time by replying “STOP” to any message you receive from us. For help, reply “HELP” or email bert@bert4oxnard.com.
